SK Jewellery proudly celebrates Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan’s 85th anniversary by creating the largest Golden Boat ever seen in Singapore. The creation of the one and only Golden Boat (吉祥号) represents the brand’s heartfelt wishes and congratulatory message for the Teochews in Singapore.
The creation of the one and only Golden Boat (吉祥号) by SK Jewellery represents the brand’s heartfelt wishes and congratulatory message for the Teochews in Singapore. The rudimentary wooden boat, which is the Teochews’ traditional symbol of hope, has been given a beautiful 999 Pure Gold finish by the jeweller. As gold symbolises success, attainment and prosperity, the Golden Boat represents how far the Teochews have come in their adopted homeland.
Measuring 85 centimetres by 95 centimetres, the Golden Boat takes almost a year to design and craft. Modelled after the 19th century schooners, the Golden Boat comprises many intricate small parts and was painstakingly handcrafted by highly-skilled craftsmen using the latest technology. As a result, the magnificent Golden Boat features breathtaking details, making it at once beautifully lifelike and majestically grand.
In addition to the Golden Boat Collection, SK Jewellery, which is the official jeweller for the Teochew Festival, will unveil its brand new 999 Pure Gold Di Zi Gui(弟子规) Gold Bar Collectible. Also featured at the SK Jewellery booth is its immensely popular 999 Pure Gold Traditional Matrimonial jewellery set四点金 (traditional Teochew dowry jewellery set consisting of earrings, bracelet, necklace and ring).
The beauty and deep meaning behind the story of boats serve as a reminder of how far the Teochew community has come in their adopted homeland. Re-created in gold by SK Jewellery, the Golden Boats makes wonderful gifts as they convey sincere wishes of auspiciousness and prosperity to fellow kinsmen, loved ones and business associates.
